Cal Cacciaguida, CFP®
I’m proud to serve as an Associate at Sterling Financial Planning, Inc., where I lead clients through a thoughtful, comprehensive financial planning process. I’ve always valued doing this work the right way. Methodical, educational, and grounded in long-term strategy. My focus spans investment management, retirement planning, tax and education planning, estate planning, and building coordinated strategies that actually fit a client’s life.
I graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a degree in Finance, and also competed as a Division III tennis player. That experience shaped a lot of how I operate today: disciplined, competitive in the right ways, and always thinking a few steps ahead. I maintain my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP?) certification and continually study behavioral finance and psychology. Financial decisions are rarely just about math. Understanding how someone thinks, the biases they may not even realize they have, and the emotional triggers that influence decision-making can dramatically impact long-term outcomes. When we can identify blind spots or flawed assumptions early, we’re able to build strategies that are not only technically sound, but behaviorally sustainable. My goal in every interaction is to fully understand someone’s situation and give them the context required to make sound, informed decisions.
Having grown up in Sparta, NJ, it’s meaningful to be back and a part of the community that shaped me. Being a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), having an active involvement in the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, and Chamber Group “Young Professionals”, are just some of the ways I remain committed to advancing the profession and serving my community.
Outside of work, life is full in the best ways. My wife, Luisa, and I have started our family, making room at the table for the newest Sterling Family Member (seven months old and already running the show). When I’m not at the office, you’ll likely find me on a tennis or pickleball court, playing golf or ultimate frisbee, or enjoying a slow Sunday with family after church – usually with something tasty in the oven.
