Nicholas Nicolette, CFP®, MSAFP

I am a Principal at Sterling Financial Group, serving as the lead financial planner with a career in the financial services industry that began in 1981. I hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation and a bachelor's degree from Davidson College, complemented by a Master of Science in Advanced Financial Planning from Golden Gate University. My primary motivation is helping clients live their best possible lives through thoughtful and impactful comprehensive planning, always prioritizing their interests as a fiduciary.

Throughout my career, I've been deeply involved with the Financial Planning Association (FPA), serving as the 2007 President and 2008 Chairman of the National Board, and previously as Chairman and President of the FPA New Jersey chapter. My commitment extends to pro bono efforts, including the Post 9/11 Relief Effort. Currently, I chair the FPA Membership Advocacy Counsel, where I address members' concerns about their practice. My dedication was recognized with the Heart of Financial Planning Award in 2011 and the FPA New Jersey Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

I have contributed to the financial planning community by lecturing on various topics and appearing in publications such as The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Additionally, I have spoken at events like The Joint Conference of the American Society on Aging. My role as the first FPA representative to testify before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on the Aging underscores my commitment to advocating for seniors against fraudulent investment advice.

Outside of my professional commitments, I am actively involved in my community, serving as Vice President of the Port Jervis Education Foundation, which supports educational initiatives in my hometown. I reside in Montague, New Jersey, with my wife, Laura. We have two adult children and two grandsons, and I strive to be a positive role model for them, much like I aim to support my clients in their financial journeys.
